Who says Ohio isn’t at the forefront of innovation and cutting-edge trends? While most of the nation is just now catching the Green fever, North East Ohio’s very own Beachwold (and surrounding) high school students are already leading the rest of us into a sustainable future, today.
Heralded as the world’s most successful Junior Achievement project, the students created one of the nation’s first Green Classrooms earlier this year. Boasting an impressive collection of eco-decor from flax and linseed oil flooring to recycled aluminum counter tops, the classroom is now serving as a model for similar programs the world over. But this isn’t just a prime example of student entrepreneurship, it’s also an opportunity for the rest of us to learn a thing or two about how Environmental Stewardship’s done. Leaders in the fields of building/remodeling, business/marketing and education should take a cue (and a few lessons) from these budding social ecopreneurs: Green isn’t a fad, it’s a global movement towards sustainable operation and if you don’t get hip, you’ll get left behind…soon.
