There’s a rapidly growing trend in the Greenosphere. Call it upcycling, salvaging, waste steam renovation or dumpster diving, it’s a smart trend born of economic and environmental necessity. In this down-turned economy, individuals and big businesses alike are cashing in and fueling the waste-revaluation trend by throwing out less and reclaiming what others have discarded.
Cue the Freegans, a small but expanding group of individuals dedicated to supporting themselves on reclaimed food items while diverting usable goods from landfills. It may sound extreme but the eatin’s good when one can salvage hundreds in fresh produce and baked goods daily.
