Company Description:

We are a “green-living” general store. We concentrate on offering items that are both better for our family’s health and our environment. We support Fair Trade companies & local vendors whenever possible. We also try to buy organic, recycled, recyclable, handmade, locally made, sustainable, non-toxic, and/or biodegradable items. We also source items without chemical preservatives from the paraben family, harsh detergents such as SLS, and try to source items scented with essential oils instead of chemical fragrance, and as many things that are certified Organic, Vegan & Cruelty-Free.

Sustainable Business Practices:

During re-model we did the following things:

1. Used Non-VOC paint

2. Installed formaldehyde-free bamboo floors & installed them with Green Seal certified adhesive

3. Reclaimed many of our displays from many places (garage sales, left on the curb, grandma’s attic, old retail stores, etc.) then refinished them with non-toxic, VOC-free paints.

4. Tore down an existing wall screw by screw (instead of sledgehammer!) then re-installed using the same materials in another location of the store.

Other Sustainable Business Practices:

1. Only print when necessary. When printing we only use recycled card stock, and print on both sides, always using “draft” methods when applicable to save on ink. We also have our print cartridges re-filled, instead of purchasing new each time.

2. We recycle anything & everything possible. We also have recycling drop-offs for our customers for corks, and bottle caps.

3. We are also a collection site for the Waste-Not center.

4. We compost our organic matter from the office.

5. Our website is hosted by AISO.net, a solar-powered hosting company.

6. We only buy & sell “green” products

7. We actively support other local, green businesses, by sending customer referrals.

8. We encourage our customers to bring their own bag or simply carry small items out without a bag.

9. We distribute the Earth Watch Ohio Paper
